WINONA LAKE, IN                              MADISON, IN                          BROOKLYN, NY
"Merbrink and Miss Phebe"          "Family Home & Cemetery"       "The General Slocum"

The Lost Chloe
is set in three geographic locations in the United States.

1.  Winona Lake Indiana is where "Merbrink," the summer home haunted by MIss Phebe is located.  William built this mansion for his intended bride Nelle but boarded it up unexpectedly.

2.  Madison Indiana is where Bruning's childhood estate is located in the Ohio River Valley just North of Louisville, KY.  This is also where most of the characters are buried in Springdale Cemetery.

3.  Brooklyn NY is the location of William's expanded Coffee and Spice Company and the homebase for Nelle's theatre troupe.  In 1904 the two lovers were celebrating their upcoming wedding and the completion of Merbrink.  They brought their "niece" Chloe with them and all became an unfortunate part of The General Slocum slaughter.

William and Nelle ended their lives in...

...Evansville Indiana where they wintered.  Click here to view pictures from this location even though The Lost Chloe doesn't touch much on this portion of their lives.
